The Marais poitevin, parc naturel régional
Together with the Baie de l’Aiguillon, the Marais Poitevin forms a former marine gulf, the
Golfe des Pictons, but it stretches out over three different French départements (Vendée, Deux-Sèvres, and Charente-Maritime) and two administrative regions (Pays de la Loire and Poitou-Charentes).

The Mervent-Vouvant forest massif
With its 5 000 hectares, the forest of Mervent-Vouvant is the largest contiguous woodland of the Vendée and reveals a magnificent environmental symbiosis between forest vegetation and water. Flanking the foothills of the Armorican massif, the diversity of its basement rocks is translated by a varied, dense vegetation but where the oak tree is omnipresent.
