From the bocage to the plain

After the Baie de l’Aiguillon, the Marais Poitevin, forest massif of Mervent-Vouvant, the countryside around la Châtaigneraie continues its soft and continuous undulation towards the Vendée boscage and one of its most prestigious theme parks, the Puy du Fou.

With its 5 000 hectares, the forest of Mervent-Vouvant is the largest contiguous woodland of the Vendée and reveals a magnificent environmental symbiosis between forest vegetation and water. Flanking the foothills of the Armorican massif, the diversity of its basement rocks is translated by a varied, dense vegetation but where the oak tree is omnipresent.
